Cole Slaw

While easy to prepare, this cole slaw recipe is sure to impress. Cole slaw makes a great addition to any barbecue, and it’s the perfect time to barbecue with Independence Day just around the corner. You probably have the majority of these ingredients on hand. It only takes a few minutes to prepare and is made ahead, which means one less thing for you to worry about at dinner time.

  • 16 ounce bag cole slaw mix
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt, to taste


  1. Thoroughly stir all ingredients together in a bowl. Refrigerate for 3 hours. Stir before serving.


  • Vegetarian
  • Vegans, use a vegan mayo, such as Earth Balance mayo or Vegenaise, in place of egg-based mayo.
  • If you have cabbage and carrots on hand, you can shred them and use in place of the cole slaw mix.
